Caseville Shanty Days

Historical Society of Caseville 2nd annual Shanty Days Checker Tournament
Saturday February 17th the Historical Society of Caseville hosted their second annual Shanty Days checker tournament. A great time was had by all whether playing checkers or eating a variety of yummy foods including brownies, cookies, hot homemade chicken noodle soup and decadent hot chocolate complete with chocolate milk, marshmallows, whip-cream, sprinkles and cinnamon. With all that, there was not a single calorie in it ( they were all married with very large families).
There were two brackets for the checkers tournament. In the kids division Grace Wiltson won a plaque and $10 and was our first place player. In second was Kash Riley our youngest player yet at 5. Rodney Brown finished in 1st place in one bracket while on the other bracket Rich Bass took first coming from the loser division to win 2 games to beat Bud McCormick who finished second. Thanks to all who helped and played.

Charity Island Cruise and Lighthouse Visit
A fine summer afternoon with Caseville Historical Museum members & friends – we had a fabulous Northstar cruise to Charity Island excellently managed by Captain Tom Carriveau and assistant Joy. We heard a captivating history of the Island and its lighthouse by Bob Wiltsie. Such a nice afternoon – even a little bit of singing on the ride back to Caseville. Fun day!
